Hybrid satellite and terrestrial networking for extended and efficient broadband coverage

This project aims to investigate and develop the integrated hybrid utilisation of terrestrial and satellite networks to provide complete overall coverage, increased per user throughput, lower cost, and enable increased sustainable user Quality of Experience (QoE).

The resultant platform combined multiple access networks, including satellite, 4G/5G, and wireline broadband over copper line technologies to provide high-data-rate, high QoS, and uninterrupted broadband services to rural areas and remote locations in an economically attractive solution.

This was a three-year project, successfully completed in September 2017.
