My journey to Loughborough University London

Please tell us about your path to Loughborough University London. Where did you study before and what subjects did you take? Did your previous learning experiences influence your decision to study further?

It was a tricky decision but today I feel it was the right one. I finished my Bachelors in Information Technology and then pursued my first Masters in Sports Management. Even after completing my first Masters degree, I felt a degree in a Sports-related subject from a reputed global university will add a lot to my resume. The one-year Masters made the decision to be very simple.

Why did you decide to study at Loughborough University London? Also, what inspired you to apply for the course that you chose?

It wasn't a hard decision to be very honest when I was sure I want to pursue a second masters. When it comes to studying sports related modules, Loughborough was a no brainer. Sports business is one area of interest for me hence I decided to apply for MSc Sports Business and Innovation at Loughborough univrsity London. The modules aligned with my interest as well.

My Loughborough University London Experience

How has the teaching in your institution at Loughborough University London helped further your knowledge of your subject?

It has for sure widened the areas of work I would like to work in after completing the degree. The study material provided by the professors fits perfectly with the subjects. The Institute of Sports Business definitely has provided consistent networking opportunities which is a very important aspect as an international student.

What interesting things are you learning?  Is there a particularly good project/ work that you participated in?

The industry connections gave us an opportunity to present an idea regarding Sports Sponsorship to a football club. This allowed us to develop a more professional approach as it wasn't a normal thing for most of us dealing with Football clubs.

Please tell us about any support that you received from your institute staff

All of the staff are really helpful and very quick when it comes to replying to emails, answering queries during lectures, providing support on projects and asessments.

What did you think of the social atmosphere on the campus and what was your experience of living in London?

To be very honest, as someone who has been studying away from home since a very young age, adjusting to a city like London wasn't very difficult for me. The city literally has everything what a student needs. With regards to the social atmosphere at the campus, there are atleast two events happening every week at the campus which allows us to meet out collegues and other batchmates. This is very important for an international student especially.

What piece of advice would you give to prospective students looking to undertake the programme that you studied?

If Sports Business is your area of interest, you do not have to think twice while applying for this programme. The programme has everything a prospective student interested in working across various domains of sports needs. I would also advice apart from being regular at lectures, attend all the events happening off-campus as well. This not only helps you in exploring the city but also provides networking opportunities.

Looking to the future

What do you plan to do in the future and how will your Loughborough University London degree help you achieve that?

I plan to start a Sport Business of my own sometime in the future but only after exploring the industry first. The goal is to work across multiple areas of Sports industry first, gain the required experience and then use that for my venture.

What would be the one piece of advice that you would give to prospective students who are interested in studying at Loughborough?

GET OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE. Adjusting to a new city might be tough for some but it has its fun as well. Once you are used to the atmosphere, the student journey becomes very very happening in a positive way. Get involved with every event which is taking place on or off the campus even if it might not relate to your area of study. This is important from a networking point of view.
