Local Students Celebrate Success with Loughborough University London
Loughborough University London celebrated success with some of its local students earlier this month as it welcomed the latest group of east London graduates onto campus.
Since opening in 2015, Loughborough University London has offered the Inspiring Success programme to help local unemployed and underemployed graduates into graduate level employment. The programme is run annually and is split into two parts.
Part one offers five evening workshops designed to enable graduates to reflect on their experience, plan their next career step and build their network. Over 100 local people have benefited from these workshops.
Part two is a scholarship programme offering up to 100% towards tuition fees to join Loughborough University London on one of its innovative postgraduate programmes.
This year’s cohort of five students joining on the Inspiring Success Scholarship brings the total number of students receiving scholarships up to 43. This is a total investment in local talent of nearly £500k by the University and its partners in the scheme.
Professor Tony Edwards, Dean of Loughborough University London said “Programmes like Inspiring Success are so positive for the University. Our east London students bring so much to our community, and I am really proud that we have a programme like Inspiring Success that makes such an impact locally.”
Graduates of the programme have gone on to work for companies like ING, Global Disability Innovation Hub and Hackney Council.
Vanessa Brown who is studying for an MSc in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management part-time whilst working on her start-up business said: “When I found out about the Inspiring Success programme I couldn’t believe such a package of support existed. I’ve already gained so much from my experience at the University. I would encourage anyone eligible to apply for this programme next year.”
