Loughborough University London celebrates student success at Community Celebration Awards
This month the Future Space Team hosted their Community Celebration Awards event, an evening dedicated to celebrating our students’, partners, and Inspiring Success participant’s achievements throughout this challenging year.
Partners from our Digital Skills programme and Collaborative Project were joined by students, staff and the Dean of Loughborough University to celebrate student success over the last year.
Professor Tony Edwards, Dean of Loughborough University London has said:
“After more than a year of delivery in person and online, it was wonderful to be able to attend the Community Celebration event and celebrate our students success in-person. Their achievements and contribution to the community in which we operate have been fantastic, and the opportunities created by the Future Space team in the most challenging of circumstances are testament to the whole teams professionalism and commitment’ – Professor Tony Edwards, Dean of Loughborough University London".
The evening celebrated student’s participation across a variety of different activities including:
Personal Best London
Personal Best London is an extracurricular personal and professional development award they complete alongside their studies. Personal Best London requires students to evidence their development across three sections of the award: Reflection and Action, Skills and Experience. Students must evidence 15 hours of activity for each section throughout their studies. Finally, students must submit a reflective report which demonstrates their commitment to their development during their time at Loughborough University London.

Digital Skills Programme
The Digital Skills programme offers students the opportunity to gain critical digital skills through extra curricular workshops. They then test these skills through completing a 30-hour work-insight project. Projects are hosted by external organisations ranging from start-ups, Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs), charities and not-for-profits. Students work to address a digital project brief with the organisation offering students the opportunity to gain experience, grow their network and include the experience on their CV.

Dan Robinson, Stakeholder Engagement and Employability Coordinator has said:
“We are really pleased to have been able to hold this event for our students. It was great to be able to bring them together at our London campus to help celebrate their hard work in the company of peers, colleagues and external project partners”.
Evolve
This year Loughborough University London hosted its first postgraduate business validator: Evolve. The programme provided student entrepreneurs with the support, structure and practical time needed to really interrogate, test, and validate business hypotheses and ideas. Offering businesses priority business mentoring, peer-to-peer support, online resources and access to funding, the 7-week programme helped founders turn their idea(s) into the real-deal, taking new or existing business to the next level. The evolve programme leads to our Evolve competition where businesses pitched their business idea to win a cash prize to develop their business. At the Community Celebration event we celebrated the success of all participants and announced our winners of the Evolve competition. You can find out more and watch the pitches here.
Inspiring Success Programme
The Inspiring Success programme is a two-part programme designed to support the employability support and career progression for unemployed or underemployed graduates from Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest. The programme involves the Inspiring Success workshop series and the community celebration event saw Inspiring Success workshop attendees join the celebrations to celebrate their completion of the workshop series.
