Three alumni share collaborative thinking at London event

On 13 February 2019, three alumni visited the Loughborough University London campus to give a talk on collaborative working across three sectors: environment, politics and digital media.

Stephanie Cunningham, Francesca Guglielmi and Narinder Singh Pooni all took part in the ‘To Collaborate or Not To Collaborate’ event, aiming to give the students real-life insight into the world of work and collaboration.

Loughborough alumni all shared their experiences on collaboration in their roles and throughout their career, emphasising the importance of working alongside colleagues and other partners.

Alumna Stephanie (Information Management and Business Studies, 2009) manages the London Partner Centre at Facebook as part of the Global Business Marketing Team. She talked about her experiences of working in a digital environment and her background in marketing and communications. Her role includes partnering with other organisations, so her unique insight was valuable.

From an environmental perspective, alumna Francesca (Water and Environmental Management, 2015) was able to share her passion with students. She works for the Environment Agency as a Flood Coastal Risk Management Officer, working within revenue funding allocations and she monitors performance indicators related to flood assets maintenance.

Alumnus Narinder (Business Economics and Finance, 2007) currently works as a Senior Parliamentary Researcher within the House of Commons for Neil O’Brien, the Member of Parliament for Harborough. Narinder has a background in local government and was able to discuss his experiences of collaboration within the public sector.

Students at the London campus can work on a The Collaborative Project with their peers and an external organisation during their studies. More recently the Collaborative Dissertation module has also been introduced, allowing students to complete their master’s dissertations whilst working alongside a company on their chosen topic. The event was set up to inspire students in their studies, and to open new opportunities for collaboration.
