The Institute for Design Innovation at Loughborough University London has active research collaborative relationships with industry investigating real life problems.
The Institute enjoys a collaborative relationship with Loughborough Design School and its research groups, based at the University’s main campus. The Design School epitomises excellence in the three strands of its activity: Research, teaching and Enterprise.
The Design Innovation Management programmes allow students to engage in globally connected creative projects whilst studying in the ‘design capital of the world’. These projects will provide students with experience of working in cross-cultural and globally distributed design-teams, skills increasingly required by industry.
The programmes are structured so that students can broaden their expertise through electing a module from other subject areas such as Business, Cultural Studies, Social Sciences or Engineering. During the final integrative study phase of the programme, students will undertake an independent major project facilitated by experienced supervisors.
The research agenda of the Institute for Design Innovation builds on the idea that design contributes to and enables innovation in multiple ways and on various levels. The Institute is currently engaged in and developing further four research areas in the wider design innovation arena, with a focus on the use and application of design knowledge, skills and approaches into varied contexts.Find out more about our research
