Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship hold virtual alumni event

The Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship recently held their first alumni event on 9 December 2020. This event was hosted by Louise Scholes, Director of Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Anna Grosman, Senior Lecturer in the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Ben Cole, Head of Strategic Projects and the Future Space team.

The Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship event featured a panel made up of Loughborough University London alumni, giving current Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship students an open platform for effective discussions and hear real stories from our previous students’ experiences.

The event commenced with some of our alumni giving brief introductions about themselves, sharing what they studied during their time at Loughborough University London and their career journey so far.

Not all of the alumni who attended this event studied within the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship during their time at Loughborough University London, however, many had developed strong links with the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, having previously attended Institute events.

Some of our international student alumni also had the opportunity to provide deeper insight into their decisions to remain in the UK following graduation. Since graduating from Loughborough University London, many of our alumni have established strong connections with organisations and now have secured permanent roles working in the UK.

The alumni panel also offered advice to current students on how to maximise their time at Loughborough University London. This included encouraging current students to get involved with the different activities and events provided by the university outside of lectures. One alumnus shared their experience of how attending these events were a fantastic way to encourage innovative thoughts process outside of the study timetable.

The event finished with our current students directing questions to our alumni panel. The questions covered a broad range of topics, many with reference to the current events in the world and how the current COVID-19 situation may affect the early stages of their career journey.
