Celebrating learning communities
On 3rd July 2019 Loughborough University London marked the achievements of two of its learning communities.
The first part of the evening celebrated the current postgraduate community achievements by presenting ten highly coveted ‘Postgraduate Employability and Achievement Awards (PEAA)’ to students who have heavily engaged with the University’s innovative Enterprise through the Curriculum programme over the last year. The award, and the process of achieving it, allows students to reflect on their skills and experiences throughout their journey at Loughborough University London.
, Loughborough University London’s Employer Partnerships and Employability Manager said “In developing your career it is really important to reflect on the skills, experiences and competencies that you have gained during your university experience. Our programme of support, and the PEAA award, not only allows students to clarify their next career goals but gives them the skills to reflect and build how they represent and present themselves to potential employers.”
The event also marked the start of a Loughborough University London journey for 10 local graduates who had completed a six-week programme of employability support. Since September 2015, Loughborough University London has delivered a series of workshops in partnership with London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) to unemployed and underemployed graduates from the east London growth boroughs of Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest. Participants on the programme have been supported by a diverse range of employers from Nat West, Sports Interactive and the BBC. The workshops are part of the University’s Inspiring Success programme and link to the opportunity to apply for a 100% scholarship to take up a postgraduate programme at our London campus. So far, the Inspiring Success Programme has reached over 100 participants with 35 going on to study for their master’s degree at Loughborough University London.
Ben Cole, Loughborough University London’s Stakeholder Development Manager said “Our Inspiring Success programme is great initiative for the University. We get to work with some great diverse talent, connecting them to our community and delivering real outcomes for them and their families.”
Applications are still open for the Inspiring Success Scholarship, with applications closing on 31 July 2019. If you are interested in getting involved with the Inspiring Success programme please contact Ben Cole.
