Loughborough shortlisted for 9 Whatuni Student Choice Awards

Student satisfaction has helped Loughborough University feature in nine of the 12 categories at this year’s Whatuni Student Choice Awards.

The University features heavily in the annual event, which recognises institutions for excellence in a wide variety of academic and social areas.

Based on ratings given by students, Loughborough has been shortlisted in the Overall (University of the Year) category, as well as Student Support, Job Prospects, Students’ Union, Clubs and Societies, University Facilities, Accommodation, Giving Back and International.

Other finalists include Imperial College London, Durham University and Sheffield Hallam.

To compile the nominees, reviewers from the Whatuni.com website visited 130 universities across the UK and spoke to more than 27,000 students who rated their institution from one-to-five in each of the 12 areas.

In 2015, Loughborough was named University of the Year, and missed out narrowly on the top spot again last year, being named runner-up.

Vice Chancellor, Professor Bob Allison, said: “It’s a great achievement to have been nominated in nine of the 12 categories, and coupled with our past successes in the awards it shows we must be doing something right.

“What’s more, the awards are made all the more important by the fact that they’re voted for by students.”

This year’s winners will be revealed on April 6, at a gala dinner held in London.

Simon Emmett, CEO of Whatuni.com parent company Hotcourses Group, commented: “We are delighted to see universities that are being nominated for a number of categories across the board at this year’s awards.

"It truly reflects a student experience that goes beyond teaching excellence and touches on all aspects of a student’s life.”
