The Community Celebration Awards event is an evening dedicated to honouring students’, community partners, and Inspiring Success participant’s achievements throughout the year. Community Partners from the campuses London Open Fund were joined by students, participants in this year’s Inspiring Success programme and staff to celebrate community success over the last year.

Connecting to our community is a huge part of the experience here at Loughborough University London. This event is a true celebration of all of the things that make the Loughborough experience in London special. It really captured the energy we have here on campus. It was wonderful to be able to celebrate together the achievements of students and our community partners.
At the heart of the awards event was the celebration of local charities and community organisations that have been supported with gifts from Loughborough University’s London Open fund. The Open Fund supports local organisations that enrich the social, educational, cultural and physical wellbeing of people living close to the Loughborough University London Campus. The Open Fund supported 8 local organisations with awards of up to £1,000.

Personal Best London
Personal Best London is Loughborough University London’s extracurricular personal and professional development award. Students complete the award alongside their studies. Personal Best London requires students to evidence their development throughout their studies. Awarded students submit a reflective report which demonstrates their commitment to their development during their time at Loughborough University London.

Micro Internships
Loughborough University London offers students the opportunity to gain critical skills experience through a 50-hour micro internship. Projects are hosted by external organisations ranging from start-ups, Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs), charities and not-for-profits. Students work to address a project brief with the organisation offering students the opportunity to gain experience, grow their network and include the experience on their CV.

Inspiring Success Programme
The Inspiring Success programme is a two-part programme designed to support talented graduates from Loughborough’s home London Boroughs of Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest. The community celebration event saw Inspiring Success workshop attendees join the celebrations to celebrate their completion of the workshop series and receive certificates. The programme that is run in partnership with UCL and London College of Fashion is now in its 10th year.

Finally, the awards evening was capped by celebrating the students who have given their time to Student Ambassador roles over the year.
