After completing his PhD in Biodiversity Management, Russell worked in the operational management of professional sports venues for twenty years, with more than a decade focusing on improved sustainability performance. He has delivered a module on sustainability and sport for the Institute of Sport Business since 2016 and has been appointed to the staff this year to enhance the knowledge and experience of the academic staff already working in this area. His research interests will be around practical management of sustainability performance and practical measurement of impacts, and are to be developed.
Academic background
Russel has a PhD in Biodiversity Management, specifically in giraffe conservation. He has taught a variety of biology subjects over the course of six years. More recently (since 2016) he has delivered various guest lectures and talks at universities and conferences including regular guest lectures at the University of Greenwich (Event Management) and at Loughborough University London on the Master's courses in Sport Business and Sport Leadership.
Interests and activities
Russell is a member of British Standards Institute SCP/1 Sustainable Performance, Consumption and Production. He is also a member of the ECB ESG Committee.
