Lo May Chiun holds a First-Class Honours bachelor’s degree in business administration, specialising in Investment Finance, from the National University of Malaysia (UKM). She earned her Master of Business Administration from Heriot-Watt University, UK, and completed her Ph.D. in just two years, focusing on Organisational Behaviour at University Science Malaysia. Before joining Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), she gained five years of professional experience at Malayan Banking Bhd. Currently, she serves as a Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) and has served as the Senior Director of the UNIMAS Research, Innovation & Enterprise Centre. Her academic contributions include a Google Scholar citation count of 6,765 with a h-index of 38, and a SCOPUS h-index of 20.
Over her career, she has supervised 34 Ph.D., seven Doctors of Business Administration, and 61 master’s students, of which 14 Ph.D., four DBA, and 57 master’s students have successfully graduated.
Research
Lo May Chiun specialises in strategic management, sustainable tourism, organisational behaviour, and technology development. She has produced 164 journal articles on topics such as organisational behaviour, operations management, finance, strategic management, and business tourism in both local and international journals. Her scholarly work also includes five books, 96 refereed conference papers, 11 book chapters, and 29 edited books and proceedings.
She has secured 49 research grants at the international, national, and university levels, including funding from ERASMUS+, the Japan Foundation, AKEPT, NRGS, LRGS, FRGS, and DSCoE, amounting to over RM 27.8 million. Her research and innovations have earned her numerous prestigious awards and gold medals at international and national research exhibitions, including the Business Invention Show in the UK and iENA in Germany.
