Geoffrey Hodgson has been appointed as Professor in Management for the Institute for International Management and Entrepreneurship at Loughborough University London.

Profile

Geoffrey is a specialist in institutional and evolutionary economics, with a background in economics, philosophy and mathematics. His research has applications to the understanding of organisations, organisational change, innovation, entrepreneurship and economic development.

Hodgson is also the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Institutional Economics (ABS rank 3). He has published 18 academic books and over 150 academic articles, which he is the winner of the Schumpeter Prize 2014 for his book on "Conceptualizing Capitalism".

Geoffrey has honorary doctorates from the Russian Academy of Sciences and the University Of Thessaly, Greece. He is also an Emeritus professor.

Academic background

Professor Hodgson was previously positioned at the University of Cambridge between 1992 and 1998 and then the University of Hertfordshire between 1999 and 2018.

Research

Current research and collaborations

Geoffrey's ongoing research is investigating the nature of property rights, markets and corporations. This draws from philosophy, psychology and law, as well as from economics.

Current PhD / research supervisions

Geoffrey is continuing to supervise three PhD students at the University of Hertfordshire.

Completed PhD / research supervisions

Geoffrey has formerly supervised 19 PhD students to successful completion, at both universities of Cambridge and Hertfordshire.

Interests and activities

Geoffrey is the Secretary of the World Interdisciplinary Network for Institutional Research (WINIR). He is active in this, as well as other global networks in institutional research. Geoffrey's other interests include photography, Shakespeare and his family.
