Immediately prior to his doctoral research, Spencer completed an MSc in Diplomacy & International Governance at Loughborough University London. Prior to this, he enjoyed a 20-year career in financial services, Big4 consulting and founding partner of Ethos-Chain, which is a specialist consultancy working across the Middle East and United Kingdom.

Spencer's thesis sets out to create an algorithm that puts forward a new methodology for measuring Corporate Power, enabling governments, institutions and other academics to have a more in depth perspective on corporate power and have a uniform system for determining the power measure value.
