This March, Loughborough University London’s Future Space was alive once more with innovation as it welcomed students from DePaul University Chicago to undertake a tricky challenge posed by West Ham Community Development Foundation.

Representatives from the Foundation, which has been partnering with Loughborough for over 10 years popped in to pose a challenge around its new Community Hub, The Foundry.  For the past 5 years the charitable arm of West Ham has been redeveloping its base in Beckton. It wanted ideas on how to build on its valuable work with the community and generate revenue to support the foundation.

DePaul University has been attending innovation challenges with Loughborough for the past 8 years. This year’s crew were treated to a speed ideation session and team building challenge all delivered in just a few hours.

Solutions proposed to West Ham included a variety of new enterprise initiatives covering community health, breakfast clubs and a community action fund in partnership with the Foundation arm of a key club sponsor.

West Ham’s Mo Ali said:

The Foundry in Beckton is already delivering for the club, but these new ideas will help us take things to the next level. Having Loughborough and DePaul students furnish us with so many ideas has been hugely useful. They have left us with a great deal of inspiration – thanks to the Future Space team for putting this on.
