One key theme emerged after the teams got together: while universities provide a wealth of career resources, one vital aspect is often overlooked—the need for students to secure financial support while studying. To address this, the universities at Here East took on the challenge of hosting the Here East Student Jobs Fair.
The fair proved to be a huge success, attracting over 300 students to the Plexal venue, where they explored a diverse range of roles in industries like hospitality, event management, mentoring and tutoring, fashion, social care, and sports. With 24 employers on hand, including prominent organisations like E4S, Newham Council, Cultural Style Week, and Event People, students had the chance to network and discover various career paths.
Huma Aktar from Delaware North shared her excitement about the event, saying:
Delaware North would like to thank everyone at the partner Universities for sharing the opportunity to participate in the recent Jobs Fair at Here East. It was a fantastic experience to connect with so many talented individuals and share insights about career opportunities at Delaware North.
We were particularly impressed by the engagement from all students, which truly highlighted the vibrant community at Here East. It’s clear that there’s a wealth of potential and innovation in this space and I wanted to take a moment to express my enthusiasm for our continued partnership with the Here East Universities. The collaboration has been incredibly rewarding, and I truly believe we are making a positive impact together.”
One student also shared their thoughts on the fair:
“The fair was well organised, and I have been able to speak to different organisations present there. They have been wonderful and available to answer all the questions, provide details about their works and the opportunities available. Despite the large turnout, the process of moving from a desk to another was smooth. Great session!”
