New postgraduate students were challenged to come up with strategies and tactics to support IBM with its SkillsBuild programme of online courses. With only a few hours to come up with their solutions students were formed into teams, given tools to develop and analyse their ideas before being challenged to pitch them to a panel of judges in just 90 seconds.

John McNamara IBM Master Inventor and sponsor of the Sprint said:

“It was great to work with Loughborough’s students in London.  The creativity and innovation on show is hugely impressive.  Considering the teams only had a few hours to put things together the solutions offered were impressively close to some of the things we have been thinking of implementing with SkillsBuild.”

12 teams battled for the cash prize with the winning teams' solution being praised for its novelty and imagination.

Lewis Lee who joined the sprint as part of his induction at Loughborough University London said:

“I came to Loughborough University London to get connected to future employers and gain skills that would help me build towards the career I want. The Future Space sprint with IBM was a great start and I cannot wait for more experiences like this.”
