Loughborough University London 2024 Scholars holding certificates

Loughborough’s London campus was awash with a celebration of talent this November. Local and global scholarship holders came together to accept their certificates for this year’s set of prestigious awards.

First up to celebrate was Imannur Gül, this year’s recipient of the Dean’s Award for Global Excellence Scholarship. This annual award is given to one outstanding student who wishes to support Loughborough’s ambitions for positive global change. Recipients receive a 90% fee waiver and join a succession of highly talented individuals in joining the London campus through this highly prestigious award.

Receiving her award from Dean of Loughborough University London Professor Aidan McGarry, Imannur said:

“The Global Excellence Scholarship award is incredibly important to me. It has made it possible for me to join Loughborough and this incredible community in London. The openness from staff and their eagerness to help and support has already been an incredible experience. I wouldn’t hesitate to encourage others to apply.”

The celebrations continued with Joshua Williams and Muna Mohammed each accepting an Inspiring Success Scholarship. This award is given annually to up to two talented students who live and have previously studied in one of the four local boroughs that surround Loughborough’s London campus. Recipients of the Inspiring Success Scholarship receive a 100% fee waiver and join a growing number of local graduates now studying Postgraduate degrees with Loughborough on its London campus.

Receiving her award from Professor McGarry, Muna Mohammed said:

“Being awarded an Inspiring Success Scholarship is an incredible start to my journey with Loughborough. When I found out about the campus and the courses, I knew it was a place I could grow and craft the career I really want. I am passionate about east London and the community here and will use my time studying to pursue activities with voluntary groups.”

Speaking about the scholarships Professor McGarry said:

“The success of Loughborough’s campus in London is driven by our talented master’s students from across the globe. Our investment in scholarships is another way we are ensuring that we can create positive change. I am hugely proud that we are leading this work in London.”

Since opening in 2015 Loughborough has invested with its partners and collaborators in a range of scholarships to support local and global talent to join its diverse community in London. This support equates to just over £2m in investment and has seen graduates of the programme go on to work for companies like Google, The NFL, and BT.
