Students were very lucky to receive career insight talks from Senior Vice Presidents, Sponsorship agents, marketeers, graphic designers, valuation and partnership manager working with such organisations as F1, R&A, NBA and the Premier League – All sharing valuable insight around their careers journeys, their day-to-day working experience, and sharing gems of information around wider sports business.
Iyanu Arukwe, who led on organising the visit said
It was amazing to host the Loughborough London grad students at IMG! Their energy and excitement really made the event special. I loved seeing how passionate they are about the industry and I’m glad we could create an experience that left a lasting impression.
Once presentations had concluded, students were able to participate in Q&A with Loughborough University alum who are now working at IMG, asking questions around growing and leveraging network, career development and progression of a career in sport business.
Current Sport Analytics and Technologies student Max Champion shared his reflections of the day:
The IMG Digital visit with Future Space was an exciting yet insightful event that not many aspiring sport business professionals would get to experience during their studies. The exposure to industries such as sponsorship, consultancy, and graphic design, in addition to learning about IMG’s international clients, provided new knowledge about the opportunities that exist after academics within the sport business sector. My personal highlight was meeting, Lewis Wiltshire, the managing director of IMG Digital. An innovative individual who shared the adversities he faced and overcame, to become successful within the industry.
We would like to thank Iyanu, Ashley, Lewis and everyone else at IMG Digital for making such an effort to share their experience, insight and generosity in giving up the afternoon to spend time with our students!
