  • Dr Zeynep Kilicoglu, King's College London

Join the Institute for Diplomacy and International Affairs (IDIA) for a special event with Dr Zeynep Kilicoglu of King’s College London, who will present her latest book, Deconstructing Refugee Women’s Empowerment: A Comparative Approach to British and French Aid Structures (Routledge, 2025).

Shortlisted for the BISA L.H.M. Ling Outstanding First Book Prize 2026, the book explores how women’s empowerment policies can be strategically mobilised by grassroots communities to support refugee women’s political agency within and beyond aid structures.

Dr Zeynep Kilicoglu is a Lecturer in International Relations at King’s College London. Her research examines the racialised and gendered politics of asylum, humanitarianism and citizenship in the UK and France. Drawing on ethnographic methods, her work seeks to co-create academic knowledge with migrant communities.

Her recent projects explore the strategic engagement with AI technologies by the UK Home Office and refugee communities, funded by the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and artistic and participatory methods in migration research, funded by the British Academy.
