Collaborative Project

A key feature of many of our programmes is the Collaborative Project module, where students address a brief provided by a real business or organisation.

About the Collaborative Project

Students from across the University form cross-disciplinary teams and use their individual experiences and expertise to solve a real business problem, provided by one of our partners organisations. The team work together for the duration of the module (3 weeks) to explore innovative and creative solutions to their brief, before presenting their findings to their partner organisation.

This exciting module enables students to develop their knowledge through experiential learning, by working with one another and in partnership with a real business or organisation. Each student is able to develop their problem-solving skills, and can experience real-life strategic planning, commercial awareness, communication and team working.

It was a brilliant experience working with Sports Interactive, I particularly enjoyed the open-ended nature of the brief as we could really explore and take a variety of directions to understand the future of women's football. I was part of a dedicated team and learnt a lot about teamwork and working to a brief in a concentrated time period.

Naman Agrawal, MSc Sport Marketing, Institute for Sport Business.

The Collaborative Project module provided a valuable opportunity to work with a real client and gain hands-on experience in cross-cultural teamwork. It enhanced my project management and creative thinking skills too.

Student, MSc Digital Media and Creative Industries, Institute for Creative Futures.

Working with a real NGO on a real issue was so valuable. The module encouraged cross-cultural collaboration and communication, I also met passionate professionals growing my network and skills.

Student, MSc Diplomacy and International Relations, Institute for Diplomacy and International Affairs.

Collaborative Dissertation

In addition to the Collaborative Project, the Collaborative Dissertation is another opportunity students can access while they are studying with us. The Collaborative Dissertation is one of the dissertation routes open to all students at Loughborough University London. It gives students an opportunity to engage with organisations to undertake research that makes a contribution to the world beyond academia and addresses a research topic that has been put forward by an external organisation who is integral to the collaboration. Students can apply for research topics (March 2026) and if successful, they jointly (student, organisation and dissertation supervisor) agree and refine the topic. If students prefer, they can self-source an organisation to work with on a research topic. If you would like to find out more about this dissertation pathway, please email us
