Daniel Read

Dr Daniel Read joins the academic faculty as a Lecturer after completing his PhD with the Institute for Sport Business.

Dan’s research interests broadly focus on the impact of commercialisation on sport integrity, governance, and communications. Specifically, his research has focused on the management of anti-doping in sport studying the conflicts between regulatory, political and commercial logics. He also has a broader interest in the development of secondary data research methods in Sports Business.

Academic background

Having completed his PhD in Sport Business at Loughborough University London focusing on the legitimacy of the World Anti-Doping Agency, Dan has teaching experience in research methods, data analytics, organisational behaviour, and sports media. He also possesses an MRes in Psychology and a BSc in Sports Science and Physiology.

Current research and collaborations

Dan is currently interested in the following research areas:

1. The legitimacy of anti-doping policy implementation
2. Managing Competition Attractiveness and Balance
3. Institutional perspectives on technological innovation in sports
4. Crisis communications and image repair in sports organisations

Current collaborative partners include Millharbour Marketing and Global Talent Track.
