Career guidance

At Loughborough University London, we understand that every career journey is unique, which is why we provide every student with the support and guidance they need to reach their personal career goal.

Whether you are looking to launch your own business, progress with your existing employer or begin a new career journey, we will help you to identify the skills and experiences you need to stand out from the crowd.

Our professional Careers Consultants Nadine Lewis and Laura Hooke offer one to one guidance and support. Students can choose to book a Career Consultation,  a shorter Quick Advice appointment or interview coaching.

Careers Network

The University’s Careers Network is a useful source for job vacancies, tailored information about your career options and advice for developing your employability skills. The resources include example CVs and cover letters, tests to help you practise for employers’ assessments and tools to help with career decisions as well as information for international students.

Career Consultations

Our 30 minute career consultations offer you a chance to discuss your career goals with a trained consultant, and receive advice on the type of skills and experiences you need to transform your career aspirations into a reality. You will work with one of our dedicated Careers Consultants to formulate a detailed career action plan, and will receive advice on a range of services, events and opportunities that will enhance your work-related skills and experiences.

Interview coaching

Our interview coaching sessions are designed to prepare you for the final and most critical stage of the job application process. The sessions last approximately 45 minutes and take the form of a real interview, so that you can practice your skills and receive personalised feedback on your performance.

Quick Advice

Our Quick Advice sessions last approximately 15 minutes and are an ideal opportunity to discuss a simple query with a careers specialist, or receive useful feedback on your C.V., cover letter or job application. Quick Advice sessions can be held remotely via email if preferred. Please email london-employability@lboro.ac.uk for more information.

Academic Language Support Service

The Academic Language Support Service offers skills sessions and workshops to develop your confidence with academic writing, which can also improve your ability to write successful job applications, personal statements and cover letters. For more information, please visit the Academic Language Support Service website.

Online mentoring via LboroConnect

The Careers Network webpages also host LboroConnect, a virtual community of current students and alumni, which allows you to build your professional network and make connections with other students and graduates who share the same career interests as you. Opportunities include online mentoring, work shadowing and insight days.
