Scholarship Tuition Fee Deposit

If you intend to study full-time, are self-funding and achieve an upper second class (2.1) degree or international equivalent, you will be eligible for a 20% Excellence Scholarship which will be deducted from your master's tuition fees. To secure this scholarship you must pay a non-refundable deposit by 31 May 2019.

If you are offered the 20% Excellence scholarship towards a programme that starts in September 2019, you will need to pay a non-refundable tuition fee deposit before 31 May 2019. If you do not pay the deposit before the specified deadline, your scholarship will be lost but your offer of study will not be affected.

How much is the scholarship deposit?

If you are an international student paying international fees, you will be required to pay a £2,500 deposit to confirm your scholarship. If you are a UK/EU student paying UK/EU fees, you will be required to pay a £250 deposit to confirm your scholarship. 

How do I pay the deposit?

If you are an international student paying international fees you can pay your deposit easily through Flywire, a provider of global payment solutions.  Flywire allows you to securely pay your deposit from overseas, often in your own local currency and offers a number of different payment options at competitive rates with a best price guarantee.

To access the University’s Flywire account, simply log in to the Application Portal where you will find a direct link to the payment page.

If you are a UK or EU student, you can pay your deposit in the following ways:

  • Bank transfer

Please note: if you are paying by bank transfer, you MUST quote your application reference number when you make your deposit payment.  You will find your application reference number on your offer letter.  If you do not quote this number we will not be able to match your deposit with your application and the scholarship offer may be withdrawn.

If you are an international student paying via Flywire, your application reference number will automatically be included with your payment details.

Once I have paid the deposit, is my Scholarship guaranteed?

Once you have paid your deposit, your scholarship will be secure, provided you achieve an upper second class (2.1) degree or international equivalent.  The amount you have paid will be deducted from your tuition fees on your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) and when you register at Loughborough University London.

What happens if I don’t pay the deposit before 31 May 2019?

If you do not pay your deposit by 31 May 2019, you will not be eligible for the 20% scholarship, but your offer of a place on the postgraduate programme will not be affected.

Should I pay a deposit if I am planning to defer my entry to September 2020?

No, you should not pay a deposit.  The 20% Excellence Scholarship is offered for entry in September 2019 only.  If you pay a deposit but defer your entry to September 2020 there is no guarantee that you will be awarded a Scholarship.

Will my deposit be reflected on my CAS?

Provided that the deposit is paid before the 31 May 2019, we will ensure that this is included on your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS).

Can my deposit payment be refunded?

The deposit will only be refunded for the following reasons:
  • If you request a refund within 14 days of the payment being received into Loughborough University’s bank account (in accordance with UK distance selling regulations).
  • If you are an international student, and your visa application is refused.  You will need to send us a copy of your visa refusal notice.
  • If you fail to meet either the academic or English language condition of our offer to you, and we are unable to accept you.  You will need to send us copies of all your final results, so we can check that you have not met the conditions.
  • If you feel there are exceptional reasons why you are not able to take up your place at Loughborough in London.  You will need to send the reason and a refund will be considered, but is not guaranteed.

Should I let you know that I have paid a deposit?

Our system will tell us when you have paid a deposit, so there is no need to contact us separately.  However, if you have any concerns or questions, please email us on londonadmissions@lboro.ac.uk.

I have been awarded an Alumni Bursary, do I have to pay the deposit?

You are not required to pay a deposit to secure an Alumni Bursary.  However, the 20% Excellence Scholarship has a higher value than the Alumni Bursary, so if you feel you are likely to achieve an upper-second class degree and wish to secure the scholarship, you must pay the deposit by 31 May 2019.
