Oluwatosin is currently studying our Media and Creative Industries MA programme.
Before studying at Loughborough University London, Oluwatosin studied at Loughborough University (East midlands campus).
Why did you choose to study at Loughborough University London?
The structure of the degree programmes at Loughborough University London, in particular, motivates me as I find it to be not only inspiring but also very suited to my aspirations for studying at postgraduate level. Loughborough University is ranked in the top 10 in University league tables and having studied at the East midlands campus, I knew I'd get the same quality teaching here on London campus as well.
What attracted you to your programme?
My decision to pursue postgraduate study in Media and Creative Industries is to further explore, challenge and ultimately understand what being a ‘Creative’ means to me as an individual. This is in relation to the direction I would like my practice within my career. Upon reflection of my ‘next step’ at the end of my undergraduate degree, I realised that my strengths and interests are not only geared towards working in the creative industry as a traditional ‘Creative’. My strengths lie in starting projects, unpacking briefs, and discovering insights. Thus, my choice of pursuing a deeper understanding of Media and Creative Industries.
What do you enjoy the most about your course/Loughborough University London?
I enjoy exploring a range of different media and creative industries from both a professional and an academic perspective. Also, it is really interesting to find out more about some of the features and professional practices of the UK in global creative and media landscapes.
How do you think studying a master's degree is helping you to reach your future career goals?
I have the opportunity to continue to question and discover my purpose as a Creative throughout my master's programme. I hope to continue to expand my understanding of Media and the Creative Industries and more specifically, the importance of research as part of my process and practice. I also intend to further explore and develop my digital language and better understand the role I would like to pursue in the creative industry. My ultimate goal is to complete the course with the confidence of who I am as a Creative.
How do you like to spend your time away from your studies?
I mostly love reading. I am currently reading "My Sister, the Serial Killer" by Oyinkan Braithwaite, so far it's really good! I also love to watch movies and series. One of my favourite series of all time is "Game of Thrones".
