Lorraine is a Communication and Culture MA student on the Inspiring Success Scholarship.

Lorraine chose to study at Loughborough University London due to our renowned student experience and being top 10 in national league tables. 

Why did you choose to study at Loughborough University London?

I chose to study at Loughborough University London due to the following:

  • Loughborough University’s top ten position within the national league tables
  • The locality of the campus
  • The high calibre UK and International academic staff
  • Loughborough University London’s Student support and services
  • The London Open Fund Initiative

What attracted you to the programme?

I was attracted to this programme because the modules appeared very interesting and relevant. Also, the programme fit nicely with my undergraduate studies, potential career options and personal interests. 

List at least one thing you wish you knew about Loughborough University London before arriving on campus.

Before arriving on campus, the administration supplied by the Loughborough University London was extremely efficient. However, I wish there had been more information about module selection and timetabling before arriving on campus and commencing my studies.

List three ways that studying a master's degree is helping you to reach your future career goals.

Through postgraduate study, I’m acquiring practical experience and theoretical knowledge of leadership and project working skills. The master’s degree is fostering development of my presentation and public speaking skills. Studying a master’s degree is also improving my research and critical thinking capabilities.

Do you have any advice for students moving to London?

I believe moving to London to live and study at Loughborough University London will be an amazing experience. The London campus is dedicated to postgraduate programmes so students are on a level playing field. London is one of the most diverse cities in the world and has so much to offer in terms of architecture, culture and history.


Do you take part in any extra-curricular activities on campus, on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park or in the local area?

In addition to being a Student Ambassador, I volunteer to support local area events and community engagement activities. I am also a community volunteer panel member for the Youth Offending Service.

Tell us about the support available at Loughborough University London?

Loughborough University London provides exceptionally good support for students. Student Support and Services are helpful in providing personal support or assisting with access to alternative support services. Last but not least - the Loughborough Students Union London who provide student support and organise socials.
