Why Loughborough University London?
I absolutely loved my time at Loughborough University during my undergraduate degree and was really excited about the fact they made a London campus for postgraduate students only! The Loughborough ethos is ‘Don’t be any student, be a Loughborough student’ which I wanted to carry on for another year. The location is amazing as its right on the Olympic Park and next door to BT Sport which offers so many opportunities, both as part of my programme and within extracurricular activities.
What have you most enjoyed about your programme so far?
I love my programme due to number of guest speakers we have luckily had within the sports industry and the chance to speak to them after. For example, the Chairman of Aston Villa’s Personal Assistant and the Social and Digital Media Manager for Team GB have both visited us!
What attracted you to the programme?
My programme crosses over 3 institutes; sport business, digital technologies and media and creative industries. This attracts me mostly due to the vast variety of content and knowledge I can gain within one year that will essentially benefit me for the rest of my life. The 3 institutes intertwine with each other perfectly making each module relatable to each other, but also my career interests.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years I’ll be 26 years old and hopefully I would have found the exact section of the sport industry I want to work in (right now I’m excited to try everything!) I would love to work for a huge sport organisation such as Team GB or Sky Sports, but I definitely want a job that I love doing day in and day out.
What advice would you give to prospective students looking to study at Loughborough University London?
My advice would be to ask plenty of questions about all the types of programme’s you’re interested in and really think about the benefits of each one. So when you apply for a university place its in the programme you’re most excited about and interested in.
List at least one thing you wish you knew before arriving on campus
I wish I knew more details and essential information about the Collaborative Project. It’s a really intense module, thus I would have planned my time commitments better from the start of the academic year.
How would you describe Enterprise Through the Curriculum?
Enterprise Through the Curriculum is an optional module to help and benefit students when applying for graduate jobs. There are 3 stages of the module, and even though they aren’t graded it is highly recommended for everyone to do it.
Give 3 reasons how Enterprise Through the Curriculum will benefit your future career
- Ability to read a large amount of information under pressure and in a short space of time.
- I have learnt how to act and behave in a group discussion and what the assessors are looking for (have plenty of input but don’t dominate, for example).
- Get over the awkwardness of a video interview!
