Why did you choose to study at Loughborough University London?

I got familiar with Loughborough University London through their scholars and professors. I started communicating with previous and current Loughborough professors before starting my application. Professor Mikko Koria and Dr Ida Telalbasic are well-known scholars in design innovation and the system design fields, and I followed their activities in the design eco-system in Linkedin when I decided to study an MSc in Design Innovation Management at Loughborough University London. So, Loughborough University London was the only university I applied to. At the same time, I knew living in London would give me an excellent opportunity to extend my networks and get new links for my future career and education.

The most exciting thing about Loughborough University is the passion the University has for supporting students with their future career aspirations as well as helping students to establish entrepreneurial startups. Describe a day in the life of a postgraduate student on your course.

My MSc Design Innovation Management programme is one of the most practical courses in Loughborough University London and the modules are usually based on teamwork.

Since I live near the University, I usually get up at 7am, after running in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park for half an hour and eating breakfast I come to University for my morning class. One of the fascinating parts of every morning is the welcoming behaviour of receptionists in the entrance that always make you feel that this is the place you belong.

As I mentioned before, teamwork is in most modules, so we will get together in class and follow our Lecturers instructions to do our projects. Working with international students in a team, not only is a different experience for me in the academic sector but also we have a great time together solving wicked problems. By midday, we usually enjoy friendly conversations while we are hanging out around Here East for a meal. In the afternoon, I typically use the University facilities and spaces to follow our University projects or attending brainstorming sessions with my friends for developing new ideas for establishing a startup in London.

How do you like to spend your time away from your studies?

Being located in The Stratford provides me with the opportunity to quickly access the variety of public transport systems, I can reach every location in London which saves time and money. Based on my personal interests, I am really into design festivals and museums that London is a great hub for these! I also use the opportunity of living in an international city to get to know a variety of cuisines and enjoy my time with my international friends. Furthermore, having Italian friends persuade me to learn the Italian language, which now is a hobby for me.

Do you have any advice for students moving to London?

Before deciding to continue your education at the postgraduate level, think a lot about your course! I saw many students that came to London without a firm decision, and this could cause some difficulties to continue your course!
