Programme

Before starting his master's degree, Chris worked for an Asset Management firm in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.

Chris graduates from Loughborough University in 2015 and decided to study a postgraduate degree at Loughborough University London to get the opportunities of city life.

Why did you choose Loughborough University London?

I was a graduate from the Loughborough University campus so it made sense to return to Loughborough, however I did not want to go back to the town. Therefore with Loughborough University London being located in Stratford it would allow me to experience the opportunities of city life.

What do you enjoy the most about your course?

I enjoy the level of connection I have with the academic staff at Loughborough University London. They really care about the students and have often invited me to participate in seminars and conferences outside my studies that allow me to be involved in the wider field of International Management.

Describe a day in the life of a postgraduate student on your course

I go to the library for around 9am (if I have no lectures) and spend some time planning on what to do to best use my time. Lectures usually are 8 hours a week so the rest of my time is spent doing programme readings, writing assignments and preparing for exams. After a long day working hard in the library, I usually head home at around 6pm. At this time I completely switch off from university life and allow myself to enjoy my evenings.

I find treating my master's like a full-time job has allowed me to enjoy a social life without any guilt related to neglecting my studies.

How do you like to spend your time away from your studies?:

Away from my studies I enjoy attending live music events in London, reading or watching a Netflix series.

If you could give one piece of advice to a postgraduate student, what would it be?

I would say treat your master's like a full-time job. This will help you feel relaxed and your workload should be kept at a minimum if you are constantly on top of it.
