Why did you choose Loughborough University London and your programme in particular?

I had a good first impression of Loughborough University at first, not only because my friend in the UK had recommended it to me, but also Loughborough University has a high degree of student satisfaction.

When I knew the course details of this programme, I thought it suited for me and I was even more excited about the London location.

How has Loughborough University London inspired you and helped you to progress in your career?

The careers guidance from the dedicated team at Loughborough University London helped me a lot! I took part in mock (group) interviews, 1-1 career planning sessions, and resume modifications session, among many other events. I took part in a skills check, which I found to be very helpful to my job hunting in China because the teachers from Loughborough interviewed us and would then offer comprehensive comments indicating the improvements I needed to make.

Secondly, I improved my proficiency in writing after gaining experience over my postgraduate studies. The job I do now requires me to frequently search for materials on international academic websites, out of which I’d critically analyse - a striking resemblance to my essay writing as a postgraduate student. What I thought as boring and tedious is now a skill that I’m proud to boast about!

Tell us about your most memorable experience on your course

The teacher of the Media and Social Movement used to start the "debate" part for students of different nationalities to share their views towards certain international incidents. Though this definitely led to constant quarrels surrounding a certain viewpoint, everyone spoke logically and avoided the “low-quality” bickering, so I heard many fantastic points from it. Moreover, I enhanced my understanding of the cultures from different countries every time I attended the class, where I expanded my thinking model to touch upon many different areas.

After finishing the course last year, I returned to China and worked as an intern in CCTV 12. The six months of working in CCTV witnessed my efforts to prepare and execute two huge programmes, for which I applied my knowledge and skills to give full play to my value.

Then I came to The Beijing News and started my first formal job. Here I achieved quick growth in the role and absorbed new knowledge every day like a sponge.
