Profile

Alan is a Teaching Fellow at the Institute for International Management and Entrepreneurship (IIME) at Loughborough University London, responsible for leading the Managing Sustainability module and lecturing on the module Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). In his previous role as Research Associate of Social Innovation he also contributed to affiliated IIME projects, especially that of a transatlantic partnership with universities in Brazil and Mexico on social innovation in and around multinational companies. 

Academic background

Alongside IIME, Alan is a Visiting Lecturer at the London campus of ESCP Business School teaching Business Entrepreneurship and Organisational Strategy as well as Circular Economy. He completed his PhD of International Management and Comparative CSR in 2022 examining the role of the state, government(s) and CSR particularly with reference to Brazil. During the PhD, he also assisted in the teaching of International Human Resource Management at University of Essex and King's College London as well as contributing to modules related to Comparative Institutionalism and Entrepreneurship in Developing Economies at IIME. His interest lies within the intersection of international political economy and business in relation to corporate responsibilities and sustainability and has published in related fields. 

Prior to his time at IIME, he did a double master’s degree at Copenhagen Business School in International Business and Politics and Nova School of Business and Economics in CEMS global alliance programme of International Management. He holds work experience from the private labels/standards industry, impact investment, political risk and scenario planning for multinationals in emerging economies.
