It’s always nice when giving up some time to help people has knock on benefits. In April 2025, a group of Loughborough University London students shared a wonderfully warm Sunday to support sustainability and athletic activities at the finish line of this year’s London Marathon. Students participated in recycling efforts, athlete and family support, and welcoming home Loughborough University London alumnus and former Future Space ambassador Jake George, who completed this year’s marathon after leading the volunteer team in 2024.
In appreciation of our students’ support, London Marathon Events generously made a cash donation to the University. This contribution has been added to the Loughborough Fund – a central fund that helps students from low-income backgrounds, provides tuition fee waivers for those with caregiving responsibilities, and supports global impact scholarships, extracurricular activities, the arts, and more.
A massive thank you from the University to all those who supported on the day, it is great to recognise and share the contributions that volunteering makes, not only to those participating or attending the marathon, but to countless fellow students who look to the University for support.
