How do we get more people physically active?

Do you think you can help to solve a £7.4bn problem?

Do you want to work in a team, make connections and develop your skills?

Do you want to learn more about the innovation process and how the Future Space team works to build sustainable solutions to real world problems?

Then this is the event for you.

Anyone who does less than 30 minutes of moderate intensity equivalent (MIE) physical activity a week is categorised as 'physically inactive'.  It is estimated that physical inactivity costs the NHS in the UK an estimated £7.4bn every year.   The impact is beyond financial.  Physical inactivity contributes to 1 in 6 deaths in the UK.  It is a big problem.  Big problems need creative and sustainable solutions.  Our hack has been designed to build teams, develop ideas and offer solutions.

We will be joined by a judging panel from our partners London Sport (who work to make London the most physically active city in the world) and members of the Global Disability Innovation Hub.

What is a Hackathon?

Hackathons provide a venue for self-expression and creativity through problem solving. People from all backgrounds come together, form teams around a problem or idea, and collaboratively develop a unique solution from scratch.

How does it work?

Hackathons are a practical way to develop your entrepreneurial skills.  We will help you to understand your skills, build a team and give you tools to create and pitch a solution.  They are great ways to meet fellow students  as our hacks focus on developing our innovation community by bringing together students from all our institutes.

Sign up now, build your problem solving, team work, research and presentation skills by joining this unique challenge which will help you start your year at Loughborough University London right whilst meeting new people and having a bit of fun...

This event will be run in person and online.  In person spaces are limited and will be subject to the university’s social distancing guidelines.
