The Evolution of Sovereignty in the Governance of Outer Space: Legal and Political Perspectives

The Institute for Diplomacy and International Governance has organised a Speaker Series to bring together a mix of academics and practitioners discuss issues relating to diplomacy, foreign policy and international governance.

Dr Jill Stuart from LSE will be exploring the legal and political evolution in the governance in outer space on Thursday 14 November 2019 in a public lecture for the Institute for Diplomacy and International Governance.

About Dr Jill Stuart

Dr Jill Stuart is an academic based at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She is an expert in the politics, ethics and law of outer space exploration and exploitation. She is a frequent presence in the global media (print, radio, television, documentary) and regularly gives lectures around the world. She is currently featured in The Moon Exhibition at the National Maritime Museum. In 2015, she was awarded the prestigious Margaret Mead Award Lecture by the British Science Association in recognition of her cutting edge research. From 2013-2017, she was Editor in Chief of the Elsevier Journal Space Policy where she remains a member of the Editorial Board. She is also on the Board of Advisors of METI International, an organisation working on the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence.
