Communication to make change: Perspectives from our Alumni

This virtual event explores the contributions and perspectives of some of Loughborough University’s alumni on how communication can be used to foster positive social change.

Mel Paramasivan, Loughborough University Alumna and currently the Communications Manager at the Wellcome Trust, will give a guest lecture entitled 'Communicating for change: how to tell stories that change minds'.

In this lecture she will reflect on her career since graduating from Loughborough University in 2009, and on the changes in storytelling techniques, campaign strategies and policy contexts she has seen in that time. Mel Paramasivan has had a diverse career, including roles in aid and development, and the charity and foundation sectors, and across journalism, sports, science and health. 

This lecture will be followed by a launch of the IMCI Graduate Papers from 2020an annual collection of the best research dissertations by graduate students from the Institute for Media and Creative Industries (IMCI). As part of the event two IMCI graduates will present their research and explore connections with the event's theme of 'communication to make change'.
