Why did you choose Loughborough University London/ your programme in particular?

I chose Loughborough University London as it was the best University, with the best choice of courses, with a new campus AND in the best city in the world. No brainer! I also had a long discussion with Dr Steve Swanson before I joined and he was extremely knowledgeable, supportive and genuine. That definitely helped.

I wanted a course that could deliver the expertise, connections and knowledge of the Sport Industry as well as wider, transferrable business skills. After doing my research, looking at what else was out there for me and, yes, after coming off the call with Steve, I knew Loughborough University London was for me.

How has Loughborough University London inspired you and helped you to progress in your career?

From day 1, the team encouraged me to build my network and create connections beyond the course. It's inspired me to continue to do so in my every day life, as you never know who you'll meet or how you can help someone. Beyond that, the people here are so talented. They're all experts in their field and being around that kind of excellence can really spur you on to aspire to work at that standard too.

Tell us about your most memorable experience on your course.

In the Leadership module, we went on a trip to Sandhurst, where we tested our own leadership skills and learnt from the best of the best - the military. It was surreal, brilliant, crazy, all of that good stuff. Another memorable (and proud) moment was being voted in as Programme President and the team winning LSU Rep Team of the Year, as well as bagging the President of the Year award too.

Where do you currently work and what is your current position?

I currently work as a New Business & Marketing Manager at Octagon, a creative marketing agency in Sport & Entertainment.

Tell us about your career journey so far and the company/organisation you are currently working for.

I had my first taste of the sport industry working at Pitch, a sports PR agency back in 2012. Luckily for me, it was the right time and place. I was chucked in at the deep end, working on the Channel 4 'The Superhuman's' campaign and across many other high profile clients. From there I had the opportunity to go to Australia where I worked in PR for a while and then I ventured out of the Sport Industry and into New Business, where I worked for a corporate company and lived oversees for a year.

When I returned to the UK, I continued to work in New Business but I knew I wanted to get back into Sport. That's when my search for my next step began and it led me to Loughborough. The rest is history.
