Why I chose Loughborough University London

I chose Loughborough University London for its ideal location, access to London’s dynamic design and business scene, variety of design-focused postgraduate programmes, and the university’s excellent reputation. It felt like the right environment to grow both personally and professionally.

My overall academic experience

The academic experience was collaborative and practical, with standout moments including the group project and especially the collaborative dissertation. These real-world components made the learning both meaningful and career oriented. I also found the support network impressive, from knowledgeable, and approachable professors like Anze Zadel, to career advice from Future Space and Dan Robinson, which helped shape my next steps with clarity and confidence.

Experiences that shaped my time at Loughborough

The campus facilities themselves were very good - modern, professional, and equipped for postgraduate study. Beyond the coursework, I thoroughly enjoyed exploring London and meeting new friends from different backgrounds. These social and cultural experiences added a rich layer to my time at Loughborough. What truly prepared me for my current career was the collaborative dissertation. Through it, I had the chance to work with Lendlease and mentors like Racil and Ceire. This not only gave me credibility as a graduate but also helped me build a network in London, a network that played a direct role in landing my current role.

My advice for future students

My advice for prospective students would be to:

  1. Align your coursework with your career goals and be intentional in every project.
  2. Choose the collaborative dissertation, it’s a great gateway to industry experience.
  3. Make networking a priority, as connections can open doors to opportunity
  4. Make full use of the career’s services available, Future Space is an excellent starting point!

A postgraduate degree provides a solid platform. Loughborough University London provides the tools, but it’s up to you to make the most of them. Be proactive, stay open, and shape your path with purpose.
