English for Academic Purposes Tutor
Martin Hyams specialises in English for Academic Purposes, and he is in post to deliver embedded provision within the curriculum focusing on academic language and academic conventions directly relevant to the module assessment. He also provides one to one support for students at Loughborough University London.
Martin has a degree in social studies and a PGCE in Adult Basic Education. He has specialised in adult and community education and worked in Asia, Africa, Indonesia, Spain and Ireland as well as the UK. Martin has also facilitated a broad range of projects and programmes in partnership with public and third sector organisations, from community economics and microfinance to social policy and international development. He has previously worked for the UN, Oxfam, Workers’ Education Association and the Horniman Museum, as well as teaching access to Higher Education at Morley College, the City Literary Institute and the University of Wales.
For the last seven years Martin has been teaching academic English and study skills on the summer pre-sessional courses at Loughborough University. He is delighted to join Loughborough University London.
