The English Language Support Service offer high quality pre-sessional courses that that aim to equip students with the academic English and study skills required to cope with the demands of studying in a British university environment and to succeed on a Loughborough University degree programme.
These courses are delivered by a team of highly experienced tutors and accredited by BALEAP, the global forum for English for Academic Purposes providing the highest possible quality of English language and study skills.
The pre-sessional courses are primarily for international students who have an offer for a course at Loughborough University or Loughborough University London but who have not yet reached the required level of English. If you are unsure which course you can attend, check on the University’s English language requirements page for the most up-to-date information.
The University also strongly recommends that students who have met the English language requirements take the shorter Pre-sessional Courses (C - 10 weeks, D - 6 weeks and the Study Skills Summer Course E – 2 weeks) to help them prepare more fully for their studies.

All pre-sessional courses will be based at our East Midlands campus. For the duration of the course, you will stay in our East Midlands accommodation and meet students studying at Loughborough University and Loughborough University London.
As part of the welcome programme, you will have the opportunity to visit the London campus and get a taste of life as a Loughborough University student in London.
Free coach service
We offer a free coach service for students attending our pre-sessional courses, which are held at the main Loughborough Campus.
The coaches will drop pre-sessional students at their temporary Hall of Residence at Loughborough University, where students will stay for the duration of their pre-sessional course. A free coach service will transfer pre-sessional students to the London campus once their pre-sessional course has finished.
