Why Loughborough University London?

As I was a previous Loughborough student, when I heard about Loughborough University London I was excited to find out what it had to offer. After university, I did not plan to go back to do a Master’s and I was between looking for a job and starting my own business. Once I found out about what Loughborough University London had to offer I felt it would be a great opportunity to develop my skills in business and hopefully develop my business idea. If that did not work out it means I would have gained valuable skills to try it again or go into full time employment with the confidence that I would be a great asset to any company.

What have you most enjoyed about your programme so far?

So far I have very enjoyed the content of the course, it has been very demanding with many deadlines, but it has helped to manage my time more effectively; my writing skills have already developed substantially. I have also enjoyed working with my team to come up with a solution for Digital Skills Solutions as part of our Collaborative Project.

What attracted you to the programme?

Since I wanted to start a business I felt as though one of the Entrepreneurship programmes would be the most suitable for me. The Entrepreneurship, Finance and Innovation course stood out to me as I have had some interest in finance and felt it would give grounded for how to best finance a business, depending on what it was.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In 5 years I hope to have an established business that provides alternative to mainstream education as well as having speakers that are inspirational and motivational.

What advice would you give to prospective students looking to study at Loughborough University London?

My advice to prospective students would be to ask as many questions as you want, even if you think it is silly, to find out if you want to come to Loughborough University London. It is your future that you are investing in and so making sure you have made the right decision will allow you to feel confident and happy. Everyone is welcoming and happy to answer any of your questions. At first I was unsure of whether I should go back to university after my undergraduate degree but after speaking to current students and finding out their experiences I was confident coming to Loughborough University London would be a great decision.

How would you describe Enterprise Through the Curriculum?

I believe ETC is one of Loughborough University London’s top selling points, it is not available at any other university. ETC is a module that give you the opportunity to develop your skills through different events, experiences, learning and support elements, related to finding and applying for work, starting a business and general personal development. Profiling assessments are done to identify strengths and weaknesses which you can work on throughout the year. It also ties in with the collaborative project module where you get to work with people from different institutes to come up with a solution for a real challenge facing a company.

Give 3 reasons how Enterprise Through the Curriculum will benefit your future career

ETC is not like other modules as it is very much more to do with practical skills rather than knowledge and so the 3 reasons I would say how it will benefit your future career is that you get an insight and the opportunity to work on and develop your soft skills. The ability to attend different events allows you to access things you may not have been able to previously and can deepen your understanding of what is going on in the world. ETC may help you define what you want to do for your career, especially for those who are unsure of what they want to do, the exposure to different opportunities allows you to test what you do and don’t like.
