The Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship consists of a diverse and interdisciplinary team of researchers with a shared interest in innovation and entrepreneurship. We are well-networked with the academic community across the globe, hosting and attending conferences and workshops, as well as working directly with East London start-up and social enterprise communities.

Our academic team are engaged in cutting-edge research in the fields of entrepreneurship and innovation, and draw upon this to deliver high quality research-led teaching to postgraduate students. Our challenging, career-enhancing programmes offer real value to individuals and organisations from around the globe.

The Institute delivers research that is not only academically excellent, but also seek to adds social value by addressing some of the pressing issues facing the world of entrepreneurship and innovation today such as digitization and big data, social inequality and exclusion, and sustainability.

This type of research and associated teaching is relevant for all graduates but particularly for those who are interested in starting a business, innovating within established organizations, or who are interested in an academic career and would like to start a PhD. We have significant expertise in both small and large-scale empirical studies based upon a range of innovative methodologies and the latest data analysis techniques.

As a team we have published in a variety of internationally renowned academic entrepreneurship, management and organisation studies journals such as the British Journal of Management, California Management Review, Entrepreneurship, Theory & Practice, Gender, Work and Organization, International Small Business Journal, Human Relations, Management Science, Organization, and Small Business Economics. Members of the team serve on editorial boards, as special issue editors, and referees for these and other respected journals.
