3D audio and blind source separation
The investigation in this project evaluates and estimates the quality and coverage of the representative candidate head-related transfer functions (HRTFs), such as functionality and reliability in operation against uncertainties of spatial auditory perception.
The analysis develops guidelines for the practical use of the method for situational awareness. A new Blind Source Separation (BSS) system is also presented to improve the perception of individual sound sources in a mixture of sound sources.
The output produced by the HRTF-based method can be processed and mixed into a spatial audio rendering system synchronised with other 3D multimedia applications towards better overall spatial impression.
