Innovate UK to host connected and automated vehicles briefing event on campus

On Tuesday 16th January, Loughborough University London will host Innovate UK’s first competition briefing for Modelling, Simulations, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Augmented Reality (AR) for Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV).

The UK Government recently published its Industrial Strategy which outlined its ambition to have driverless cars in action by 2021, and issued the Automotive Sector Deal to establish the UK as a driving force for the future development of CAV, AI, and mobility.

As part of the Automotive Sector Deal, the first of two competitions will offer £15m to industry-led research and development projects that use holistic simulation and modelling systems to develop approval mechanisms and standards for connected and autonomous vehicles.

Led by Innovate UK’s Knowledge Transfer Network, the briefing will discuss the competition’s scope and the application process, and will provide a networking opportunity for professionals from across the sector.

The event will be available to watch online via webcast, with future briefing events planned in Cardiff, Coventry, Belfast and Edinburgh.
