Professor Mike Caine presents: Lessons in start-up
Join the Dean of Loughborough University London, Professor Mike Caine, as he talks through his personal journey through academia and in and out of the start-up world.
In this talk, Mike will speak about his start-up journey and how technology and new technologies impacted and enabled the businesses that he founded – along with the lessons he has learnt along the way.
An engineer by background, Mike has always mixed his career in academia with a passion for enterprise, start-up and scaling new business ventures. Alongside supporting the founding and development of a second campus for Loughborough University, Mike created Loughborough University's Sports Technology Institute that has been at the forefront of bringing new innovative products and thinking to sport globally. Mike has worked with big brands like Adidas and Reebok, as well as creating his own products with his company Progressive Sports Technologies.
Mike’s passion for sport and tech has seen him support the development of many companies and ventures, bringing a unique insight into the perils of launching new products into a global market place. Through this talk, Mike will offer his thoughts and ‘lessons learnt’ as he has made his way through his career in start-up. Mike will talk about successes and challenges in his career and how he has shared and protected his ideas.
The session will finish with an audience Question and Answer session with Mike before an informal drinks reception in our Café.
