Anamaria is an anthropologist with a doctoral degree in Critical Dance Theory from the University of California, Riverside.
Her interests include performance theory, race critical theory, heritage and patrimony, and popular culture. She is working on a book project derived from her dissertation analysing the staging and circulation of race and gender ideas in the construction of Colombian identity.
Her current research addresses the patrimonialization processes of intangible traditions in Colombia and how these projects interact with and re-create identities circulating in global contexts.
