Why did you want to study a postgraduate programme at Loughborough University?
Loughborough allowed me the capacity to study Psychology alongside my full time athletics career. It created an environment where I was able to balance some of the most important aspects of my life and not only supported me doing so but encouraged it! Loughborough awarded me with a 2012 scholarship which enabled me to complete a Masters in Psychology Research and without this financial support I would not have been able to afford this Masters.
How has your qualification helped you in your career?
My degree and my masters have led to further completion of a PGDip in Low intensity CBT and I am currently in the process of applying for the Clinical Psychology Doctorate. Without these qualifications this opportunity would not be possible.
What did you find the most challenging aspect of your studies?
The most challenging aspect of studying at Loughborough University was maintaining the elite standard it expected from students academically. Standards at Loughborough are very high which can motivate a student to excel, but can also increase the pressure to succeed.
What do you like most about living in London now that you work in the capital?
I love living in London as it encourages a lifestyle where people work hard but play just as much. In previous cities I have worked in I have lived for the weekend, often counting down the weekdays before Friday night. However, in London there is always something going on no matter what day of the week, I now use the weekends to rest from it all!
What is your favourite London spot and why?
My favourite spot so far is the top of Hampstead Heath hill where you can look out on the skyline of London. It’s a view that can take your breath away and is well worth the hard slog up to the top of it!
How has Loughborough University inspired you?
In Loughborough I worked, studied and trained alongside some of the most motivated, dedicated individuals I have ever met. The university thrived on the success of the students who attended and it was the positive morale of the University and celebration of its students that inspired me to become the best I can be in whatever I have chosen to do.
