PhD research description

In her dissertation, Magdalena focuses on cultural differences, communication and social networks in post-merger integration (PMI) management and how those influence the merger process, integration and firm performance of international Mergers and Acquisitions (M&As).

Her thesis is planned around three ready-to-publish papers as the main chapters of the dissertation. Each research project focuses on a specific aspect in the post-merger integration phase and include the following: (1) sub-cultures and cross-border M&A performance in the context of Germany and Austria, (2) a Meta-Analysis of the literature on Integration in Mergers and Acquisitions, and (3) a case study, using the method of Social Network Analysis as integration measurement.

The aim of the research is to develop a better understanding of key drivers and success factors in the Post-merger Integration (PMI) process, and provide beneficial insights for both, research and management.
